sure makes me wish the LFS had taken the effort to find the mate to my 'matched pair' of mandarins they held for me.  "sorry, the other one is lost in the sump somewhere".  :(  don't worry though, they charged me 'matched pair' prices for my unmatched not-a-pair.  ::)

Re: Dukes 80G Acrylic Tank

just to note also.. theres no such thing as a mated pair of mandarins, during the day females will tolerate a bigger male being in the tank but thats as close as they get to being a pair, in the wild they never pair and only meet up to spawn at dusk and then go their seperate ways probably to never see eachother again.

Yeah, I know, that's why I took off with just the one, and it was a "we bought them as a mated pair so I have to charge you $40".  I had been waiting for a mandarin from them for about 2 months, or I wouldn't have taken it.  ;D

Gorgeous!!  I have a frag of the same and even a 1 1/2" piece is an eye-catcher!! Top pic really nails the colours... Where did you find it? If you don't mind my asking.

nice.......that colour combo is the pretty common but a great bang for the buck.  I have one as well.  I managed to bleach it a little recently so its more in the shade now......definitely be careful.  Im loving chalices lately....so many nice ones.

i agree man, they are pretty stunning corals, after looking into it it really resembles the "flamethrower" chalice you see online for big money. good tip on the lighting too, i have it on the bottom of the tank now but might slide it into the shade and slowly move it out over the next few days..
