Re: My 90G Pile of Rocks

Getting ready to put biopellets online very soon.

Over the last few weeks I have plumbed together a new manifold that will direct flow from my main pump to both my BRS dual reactor and a TLF 550 Phosban Reactor. I chose to go with the 550 because I have seen several use it longterm with biopellets without any issues.

Here is a pic of my manifold...

..here is a coupling that I modified to fit over the top of my skimmer input. The output from my 550 will go directly to the 1/2" barbed fitting that goes into the top of this fitting

Had to use a rotary tool to bevel out the inside so that it would fit over my skimmer input

I will post some pics of the complete setup soon...

Watch out for coral paling and I would start feeding the fish more since you are running biopellets.

+1 on this.

Nice pictures and system, your tank is looking beautiful.  :)

Thanks Jodan, could you tell me what a typical week of feeding loos like for your 120G?
I was at Patrick's place last night, he has a killer SPS tank too! He said your SPS looks awesome!

That is nice is Patrick to say, I'm eager to get over and see his tank.  My colours aren't the greatest right now, and battling some cyano, so definitely having some trouble finding the nutrient sweet spot.  I had been feeding sparingly as I had too many nutrients, and now that my corals are paling I'm feeding more frequently.  On average, I feed mysis 1-2 times daily (two small to moderate feedings instead of 1 large), and some pellet in between.  Nori every other day for tangs, and on ocassion some cyclopeeze.  Right now I'm feeding oysterfeast every two to three days (usually no more than twice weekly), and cyclopeeze on occassion as well. I got used to lesser feedings with my old skimmer, but now with my biopellets and upgraded skimmer, have to get used to feeding more often to keep the corals happy and coloured up.

Your colours look good and you can see lots of strong growth tips.

Hey Dwayne,

Thanks for allowing us into your home last night. I can't believe how nice things are looking. I think I need a bigger tank to make room for some of those sweet frags!

Quick question about your DT ... I like your internal corner overflow. There are small openings at the water level and about a 12 inches below? Did I notice that your return comes from your overflow too? If I remember correctly, you have 3 mp40s... 2 on the left and 1 on the same side as your return (and over flow).

If I end up going with a  new tank, I might configure my overflow and water movement in the same way.

I like the dimensions and design of your DT, seems like its the best of both worlds.

Cheers!

Re: My 90G Pile of Rocks

No problem at all and thanks!

You might have to google ELOS tank overflow to see exactly how they do it. I think its proprietary, but Im sure someone could figure it out. They certainly get a lot of equipment in a very small space with their design. When you pick up your goodies tomorrow come into the office and you can see the System 70 overflow close up.

The return and the overflow is in the same small space. Pretty amazing actually. There is a wet and a dry section, you can run cords right up and out if you are trying to hide tunze's

I like the Vortechs because they work :) I do not like the noise and I dont love the look stuck to the glass but until someone comes up with something better I still think they are the best. i own 7 MP40 and 3 MP10's
I assume I will have to add the two MP10's to the back wall as the SPS biomass becomes larger, impeding the flow from the sides. I do have 2 on the left and one on the right for now, I set them to nutrient export mode at full power on the right and 80ish on the left

Hope this helps

Dwayne
