Awesome! You will get more colours out of your ATI fixture!

Still trying to figure out the best way to mount this bad boy over my tank. Can't wait!

Thanks for your expertise! Always appreciated.

My bad, as I exclusively buy from trusted sources.  ;D
I might have confused the pearl berry with another frag :? Does the cash money have any pink/red in it? It's definelty a milli?

That's pretty funny, I was not in the Van, I have staff for that sort of stuff LOL
Pretty cool ride right? 1954 VW double door panel van. We get a lot of looks on that one let me tell you. I restored it myself what seems like a hundred years ago. My general manager drives it all Spring Summer and Fall then is stored for the winter. Believe it or not that thing will do 60mph on the hwy!

Re: My 90G Pile of Rocks

With my recent observation of many successful SPS keepers using ATI fixtures, I thought to swap my DIY T5 lighting out for an ATI 8 bulb fixture.

Thought I would run this fixture for a few months and see if I can notice any differences or improvements in my colouring.

Old DIY set-up... 6 x54w = 324 watts

ATI fixture........ 8 x 39w = 312 watts

Since the new fixture only spreads across 36 inches, there will be more concentrated par under this area. The ATI fixtures are suppose to have better reflectors too, so I am interested to see what happens.

For the moment, I will be without my DIY LEDs which were pounding another 3w x 36 of RB bridgelux into my tank as well.

Another difference, will be that running my tank without a canopy will keep things slightly cooler. My heater as never come on due to the heat transferred from my lights (78-81) consistently.

Here some pics...

Not sure if this will even be of any benefit, since in my old setup, I was still using ATI bulbs and really good reflectors.  Time will tell.

I am undecided about the new look. The ATI fixture does look sweet though.
If I stay with it, I will probably hang from the ceiling or build/ modify my canopy to accomodate it for cooling purposes.

I did end up rigging together two hangers made out of "reinforced"PVC  to temporarily hang it while I observe things for a while.

I am using the 1/4inch BRS clear netting mod, that has been insterted into a window screen frame. I have lost soo many wrasse over the years from jumping, that this has "helped" prevent some losses. It is suppose to not interfere with lighting, and I havent noticed any issues over the last year or so that I have it in place.

So far, the lights are aboout 8 inches above the water line. I will lower it to about 4-6 eventually, just going slow in case the par is too much of a sudden change.

I love the way your photos turned out with the new lighting, not sure if its just the camera settings or the removal of the LEDs but I really like the colors your getting compared to your last photos.

sleak look that is for sure but have you thought about how it may effect the corals on the ends which are not getting as much light now?  You might want to move some of the higher light lovers out of the sides and move some lower light lovers to the sides.

Yeah, these were just quick photos taken with my phone. I wasn't expecting these to turn out that nicely.

Also, the colour temperature/blend from this fixture is amazing. There isn't as much blue like my last arrangement. The LEDs were also messing with all my past photos too!

I was thinking about this too. Luckily there is only about 6 inches on each edge that aren't directly under the fixture. The left side is mainly softies and LPS, so it shouldn't be much of an issue. The right side has a few acros that are already placed higher up.. The red convexa is one of these... I will monitor closely and make changes if I notice any negative effects.
