Here are the Zoas that I snagged at "The Fest", all were don't make me pack this up $5 specials!

The pics are a little soft...My first try using the top down view box on a ladder handheld ISO 3200.  I picked up the view box from J.T. when I grabbed one of his sweet fish traps (which can be rented for frags  ;) ).  All of these were taken under full halide lighting so they are even brighter under atinics.

A nice Fire and Ice morph with really bright blue, and orange centers.

Don't know if these have a name but nice anyway.

I really like these even though they're not full of glowy colours...

Finally a couple of pics of the yellow Acro under full lighting showing its true colours

That other monti is the electric blue polyp monti...... and I wouldn't keep them on your sand bed for too long.....all of those are used to seeing approx. 400-500 par with the exception of the hologram.....it probably sees about 250-300 par. Nice score buddy!!! Enjoy :)

not alot of room in the tank for coral so i grabbed 2 fish, the swissguard basslet was a great deal for a pretty rare fish from the sea king guy in the back corner with all the bagged livestock and the falco hawk was from sea life central, i also got a few zoa frags and a nice hollywood stunner from rick. ill get some photos of those later today.

Nice!!! Unbelievable deal on those, anyone with a nano should have scooped one up!!!
I considered one but opted for a very deepwater specimen that he had mis-identified as a swalesi basslet at a giveaway price, just to be different... pic later in quarentine tank now...

I bought 2 said fish from said bagged fish selling guy. They are both dead. Looked fine for 5 days then dead an hour later with the cuc munching on them. I probably will never do that again. All my other inhabitants are fine.

It always sucks to hear things like that.  Unfortunately there is a risk involved with buying fish direct from collectors and wholesalers.  Along with the great prices go the acclimation risks and losses.  Absorbing those losses accounts for much of the price difference at the LFS.

Mine has settled in to the QT tank and has started to eat PE mysis.  Another couple of weeks to get his salinity up to reef levels and we'll see how he makes out in the display.

I thought I should finish off my Fragfest acquisitions since I had the time to take a few pics...

My Collette's Basslet is still too shy to come out and pose for pics when the lights are on so a representative pic from the Net. Although no justice, it is much nicer in person.

L-collettei_zpsbc48b56d.jpg

Really red stripes on a mauve background.  Hopefully he'll eventually start coming out when the main lights are on.

A nice frag of DV Limeade Nausuta from Glen.  Hard to believe I didn't already have that one...

This very cool multicoloured War Coral

And finally my best growth story so far... At the end of the day one of the guys had a scrap left from fragging one of their nice Acan colonies.  I asked how much? they said "You actually want it?" (I get asked that a lot...) five bucks.  The small chunk of skeleton had about a third of a head of flesh on it neither had a mouth but both had tentacles.  This is what they look like a few weeks later...

So I only have one other frag that I haven't posted since it hasn't coloured up yet.  Hopefully soon...another DV piece...

I can't wait until I can get an acan. The color on yours is excellent...from a scrap no less! And the pictures aren't half bad either ;)

Very nice.

As I said that may be the -exact- piece I got from Darryl.  It encrusted like crazy from the base (as it looks like it is doing again), and the new growth is insane colour (bright blue polyps).  I cut that piece so that I would have new growth, as the original frag sort of just sat and put out roots.  Good grower once it takes hold :)

A typical DV piece too, nothing seems to affect the colours negatively.  Move it around, change the flow, change the lighting, throw it on the floor and let the cats play with it (I didn't) and the colours are as bright neon as ever.  8)

From your Uber blue LED's to my very white halides and colour and growth haven't missed a beat!

The bits that were there were super bright orange so I had to take a chance, besides that is really what I like to do.  When they reached the point that they had grown mouths and they were bright blue that was a bonus!

I didn't bother with the guy who had the fish, I'm with Reilly on this one. I didn't think they'd be in great shape when I got them home, The guy down stairs in the corner was Ryan from R20, I bought 2 Frags from him for 25 bucks. A real nice Multi colour Hammer, White/Pink/Green and the other was a Duncan. Really nice, But the best piece was a Purple Torch from Unibob, Really Nice. Definitly a Long Term keeper.
