i dont know but maybe there is something posioning the water?
something we dont detect?

a friend of mine used rodi water, dry rock , new salt, new tank etc, let it cycle, added fish 2 months later, all was well,
then when he added coral, they would only live for a couple days and it would die, all levels fine, i went over and personally tested them,
i was baffled and so was he, so he took a sample of water into a water store somewhere in hamilton and turns out the amount of copper in the water was insanely high..

maybe get that tested pat? and tony?
its not something we normally check for so may have gone undetected..?

again, just trying to brain storm with/for you guys.

I remember reading a few articles now about high metal levels in certain GAC and people were having issues....

What kind of salt are you using?
Is everybody using bio pellets and are they the same kind?
There might be some common denominator here.

I'm using IO salt, just the basic... I am using pellets yes. I use the ecobak.

Problem is my tank was great for 9-10 months full of sps. Which leads me to believe its not the pellets. Then bam, crash, burn. Nothing new was ever added to the tank media wise, or equipment. Was running the same from day one.

I will look into copper and read that RC link provided.

I'm really appreciating the help here boys. Thanks a lot.

Just like the article said, I ran polyfilter with no ill results. It is a crude method of testing for sure, but apparently a solid start. I had nothing show up in my tank.

I ran it for a week, and it was just brown from collecting poop and uneaten food.

Polyp Bailout?

Here some pictures of what's happening. Also trying to post a video, so you can see the polyps that are half attached to the skeleton swaying away. If you look close on the acan pic, you can see the one polyp is barely attached, you can see the white flesh that's usually attached to the skeleton. :(

It's tough when every thing is dead on, I would think it was a certain type of pest, Something that infests the coral, I know I'm no help but if the water parameters are good then what else could it be?

Could be something I can't test for. Could be anything. I'm 100% it's not a pest. I've been looking everyday and night for signs of a lest and nothing.

I may have came across what the problem is/was. I added carbon online about a month ago, it was after this I noticed the "bailout". I'm thinking the change to clearer water quality may have effected the lps. What do you guys think?

the clearer water will increase your PAR, maybe raise your light or shut off a couple bulbs if you can.
