Back to the pectinia for a second.....
One thing special about the space invader is actually its colour..... i have seen a lot of pectinias locally and on the net but i have never seen another green one like the space invader that was not actually the space invader pectinia.....i see a lot of rainbow looking ones actually..... one for you dave
Weird that in this case the rainbow pectinias seem much more abundant.....
Another thing about the space invader is the lineage behind it.....not to mention that darryl proved its success in captivity by growing out a huge mother from just a frag. The price is high, yes, but its much more than just another pectinia.....to some that is worth something. As far as choosing a chalice over this space invader lol idk.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, That's it really, We all have our Favs and that's just the way it is. Anything with vibrant colour, I think Darryl must feel quite proud that his Frag grew out so beautifully, I wouldn't personally pay 250 for a Frag of anything, But then I might pay that for Brandons Krypto brain. It's what makes our tanks unique to us.
If you love LPS and the Green Krypto then it's a rare find I think, I could just imagine that piece in my tank, Pectina who? Don't get defensive Darryl, I haven't seen your Pectina either. LOL
Indeed. Price of the Space invaders is coming down as well. Quite a few frags for sale in the US in the $100-$150 range, even saw a larger Frag 2.5" for $275, and that was from a vendor. Of course this is in the US where the coral can be found a lot easier then in Canada. Prices in Canada will remain higher until demand falls or supplies increase.
Great discussion (for the most part). Always interesting to see peoples thoughts on different corals and what appeals to some and not to others. That's one of the great things about this hobby, no two tanks are alike and peoples views on what corals are nice will always be different as its a completely subjective matter.
Doubtful, there's handfuls of green brains on eBay for 60,they aren't as big of course.. This one here is only 120,it was the most expensive one on eBay. But like u said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
heres a pic, poor quaility, iphone 4 and under t5 atinic, in real it glows and without seeing it in person its hard to grasp, but im sure anyone who has seen it will vouch for it... glen calls it radioactive dragon poop
