Ooohhh I like that idea.  Gets rid of the clipboards....

I'll look into that a little more.  Still not sure what I'll have for prizes, but there could be some neat stuff if things come together the way I hope.  You guys know me, I'm charming, right?    8) ;D

What they did at the michigan swaps was have a fragger r stores or manufactere throw in a prize and  use them at the raffle. ..like. Send every manufacture like brightwell ,reff nutrition and the others to give yu some items to use as a raffle prize

Okay, so Rick brought up a good question today.  Now saying that I can procure some raffle items (and it does seem like it's entirely possible there will be some goodies), would it be better to do a raffle or a silent auction?  I won't have too much space I don't think to dedicate to the raffle, I'm going to try and squeeze it onto a table by the entrance, but thoughts and opinons?

Ricks made sense...someone might win a piece of sps or something, and only have a goldfish bowl...

??

we did this at a buck and doe a couple weeks ago...

have 4 prizes for example, an lps, a power head, a sps and a softie

have a box for each prize labelling what the prize is on that box.

so i go and buy 5 tickets and i can put them in any box i want.
so i wont put any tickets in a sps box if i know i cant handle an sps coral...

get what im trying to say?
[/quote]

I could do up some boxes if needed for raffle tickets. Drop me a line Salty if you want some.

PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE:

A rep from reefbrite should be at the swap, answering questions people might have, they likely will have examples of what they make... They won't be selling but their distributors are likely represented there.  ;D

PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE:

Welcome aboard Bela Nagy from Beal.  I think a number of you know who that is.  I think his table may end up being one of the more interesting ones unless I miss my guess completely :)

I just want to say thanks for the support guys.  It's almost sold out, and I hope my guesstimates on size were close to being right, or we'll be packed in like sardines.  I'll try and keep the excitement level high for everyone by working on items for the raffles, which already promise to be 'pretty damn cool'.  There's a TON of really good, friendly people coming, and I think this is going to be good for absolutely everyone involved.  I hope to 'up' the awareness of the hobby in town, and hopefully get out some (a lot?) of people that have no idea this is even a thing to do!  I see a lot more women getting into the hobby, which is fantastic, it feels (slightly) less nerdy that way.  Thing is, they'll end up out-performing us on coral quality and production and we'll all be resentful :)

If it turns out half as good as I think it will, we'll do it again next year, even if I have to move it to a bigger venue.  This is a great way to test the waters, and I'm glad my cold feet went away early, and again I thank you for the support, I REALLY don't like messing with the law if I can avoid it, and hey, a threat of a $25K fine was tough to ignore.

Thank you also for the offers of help at the event from those of you that did.  I will likely take you up on it if I can keep track.

If you guys think of ways to get this out to the public, let me know.  I haven't read the free press in about 5 years but I assume they have an 'events' section still, I may take an ad out the week before, and the weekend of.  I'll hit kijiji and hopefully all the places that have access to the public that are coming will post about it.  The more people we have come, the more likely everyone will sell all the stuff they bring, which is my hope for everyone.  Even Jerry.

If you have thoughts, ideas, questions or concerns, just let me know.  It's sort of a waiting game now, but the time will go fast, it always does as we get older.

Didn't hear from him, a couple of guys mentioned they were going to drop the info on him.  If you have a direct line there's one table left :)

I've already volunteered my services for the day, so as we now will have a raffle table how will the ticket sales be handled? I will have no frags to sell, I could sit at the raffle table and sell tickets if that was the plan for ticket sales,  that's how they've normally handled it at the Golden Retriever Specialties I've attended. They've usually had a can with a lid in front of each item (identified for each item) for people to drop their tickets into. Could we come up with a team to handle ticket sales in shifts? Thinking out loud !

I agree. I thought Burc would be all over this one. I wonder if the AP ties might be a conflict of interest.. I wouldn't imagine it would be, but, you never know... It sure is a great way to get you known and sell a ton of stuff in one sitting.
