I do remember that the BM skimmed the water fine, it's just that say once a week, it would be "off" and I had to remove and dismantle the pump. Now that I recall... the pump ended up leaking a ton of current into the tank, and it was a known problem with the motor (and the hard angle to the cord when installed). There was no Bubble Magus website, customer service or anything, so everything had to be found through dealers and a lot of hunting. All in all it was just a PITA.
The RO skims insanely well, right from day one. I can dial it to dry skim incredibly easily, and as I said it never ever needs service (knock on wood). In fact I ordered a ceramic shaft for the pump "just in case" but I still have it in bubble wrap. Like I said, who knows if they have cheapened out their lineups, it seems like every company does it sooner or later, but for now I'm a huge fan
