Little update

Alk 8.4
Ca 480
Mg 1300
NO3 3
PO4 0.009  low  ;D

I have been having cyano problems for a couple weeks. Had lights off for 4 days, just did a 20g water change today. Cyano still there.  Picked up a Vertex U 1.5  and Ekobak pellets a few days ago. Gonna start up tomorrow 1/3 recommended dose.

Anyone one else Ekobak?  Review seem to come back as one of the best out there.

New additions today were sand sifting star and a fighting conch. Star disappeared as soon as he was acclimated into the sandbed. Watched the conch for a bit. Very cool little guy. Gotta love the eyes lmao

Oh!  Sorry.

I thought you had just started it.  I know you said in your first post the start date.  But I just assumed you just recently got it up and running.

No need to apologize.

Thanks for the comment

So I ordered 2 wp10'S and the duel controller this weekend. should be in this week sometime. If this type of flow doesn't calm down the sand storm I am going to remove all the sand and go bare bottom.  Had another tank that was bare bottom one time. only downfall I noticed is the brightness back off of the sand/argonite when it is on the bottom from the lights.

I am also at my limit of frustration with the red slime algae I think.  Didn't want to but am going to pick up some chemiclean and be done with it.  in hopes......  I have used it before in the past in other tanks with good results.

I've been battling cyano too. I'd say two three weeks at least. I've noticed last couple days it's not bad at all but it's growing on my filter socks in the dark lol :/

What have you tried to do to rid of it?
I thought this was the first I have had it. But looking in old journals I had it once before and used remover to rid of it.

Why not use it, I know some one who uses chemi clean once a year just to rid his tank of toxins, As long as you do a water change after words and run Carbon to clean it out all is good.

I haven't done anything other than regular water changes. It started when I was using zeovit start3 and bac bit long since switched to pellets. Chemiclean does work and I have it on stand by lol

So a little update again.

I decided to go with an ATI T5 fixture in exchange for the Par 38's.

I have never owned a T5 fixture until now lol. always been a MH guy.

A fellow reefer had 2 ATI 4x80w 60" fixtures for sale and a buddy of mine bought one and I went and bought the other one. Perfect condition with approx 6 months left on the bulb life.

I am going to start off with 12" above my tank and see how everything adapts.  Being only 12" tall tank this fixture should be no problem at all for growing sticks and pretty well anything else I throw in there.

Will throw up a picture of how it looks when I swap them out.
