That's a pretty high N03 level, You don't have a lot of fish in 116 GL of water. And you've done a few water changes, Just wondering, Sure their isn't something decaying in your sump?

you will never get rid of 43ppm with water changes.. unless you go crazy with them.. a 50% waterchange will drop them to 22ppm.. and another only will bring them to 11ppm give or take.. if you dont do huge ones you wont get it down at all.. many many 10% WC with those numbers wont even put a dent in your NO3 levels.

30g water change done and wanted to share a picture update or two.

This is a little project I saw on You Goob and stole the idea.

I am off for the winter so had some to time clean things up and rearrange plumbing.

My RO/DI setup

seen a guy do something similar to this set up

Fresh RO/DI in the top and SW mix in the bottom. 30g each

Little blurry but SW shut off to fill DT.  side mount RO/DI for needed water and center feed to fill SW reservoir

SW line heading to the tank

The white 1 inch on the left is the SW dump exiting the tank to floor drain in the furnace room.

And the dump into the return.

Ok.... so.... yesterday I got this new test kit..... Red Sea Nitrate Pro. I tested Low range with 16ml of sw.

Dialed in the card and got a reading of between 32.00 and 64.00 almost right in the middle so we will call it half . Thats how I got the 48 ish..... But i was reading the card for the High range side.  :-[

Wow do I feel stupid.... I am guessing today after testing again and reading the Low range side my NO3 are  3.

Tell me this good?  I guess I was a little too excited to get the Hanna and this new test kit to read the cue card properly.

You can  :gunner:  me now..

Someone who has this kit plz chime in.

Hahaha nice.  I have that test kit so I know exactly what you are talking about lol.  3ppm nitrates is fine.  Most SPS keepers aim for under 5.
