This one is for the London folks...

What are you using for an RO system, where did you get it, and how much did it cost?  What are the cost to maintain it?

Sounds like tap water isn't going to work...

Mine came from aquasafecanada.com  Best prices, Canadian company, great unit. Culligan is iffy since I don't think they actually run their water through ro/di....just softened and run through carbon. If you decide to buy water get a TDS meter and you can test the water that your paying for. I would say if the TDS is higher than 6ppm your not getting the best water.

Purchasing one of these systems is going to have to wait a few weeks (maybe 1 month) until I have the money set aside to purchase it....

In the meantime, while setting my tank up... where can I go to purchase safe water for cycling my tank and doing water changes?

Could go to Culligan and ask them to test the water with their TDS meter. I know Water Depot in Woodstock does that for me no problem. Usually once you explain what it's for ("Uh...My Fish Tank") they look at us funny and then do it......trust me you won't have been the first person to ask.

Here in Woodstock I'll go in to Water Depot and ask " Hey, can you show me the TDS readings before I buy some water?" and now they just say "ohhh, your one of the fish tank guys" and go get the meter.

Awesome!  We have a water depot here in London, I'll hit them up for my water... and make sure they check the TDS readings before I purchase the water...

;D

I think they have to replace filters at 6 TDS at Water Depot. I still get them to check whenever I have bought water though. I figure if I'm paying for filtered water it better be good...lol!

For sure. Not to mention hauling them sucker's around.

I use to go to those vending machines in the convenient stores, then get home only to test for 20 ppm.

O yeah, 2 X 5G weekly, not fun, with 3 sets of stairs lol, not to mention the one time I had them on each shoulder and ended up on the 4th floor, only to enter another person's apartment. all I heard was wtf and I was gone.
