Between fire and ice prostrata and fire and ice Mille ?
They have very same colours and growth tips and polp extension. The prostrata is a more pronounced colour but still the same none the less.

who is the fire and ice milepora coming from?  If they look the same, maybe they are.  Or maybe there is a slight difference.  Hard to say unless you grow them side by side.

I can say the fire and ice that Jroovers has and the one I have sold came from Dayne in Markham around 7 years ago.  He sold a lot of frags back than and Im sure others probably got it.  Although he never called it anything and I gave it the fire and ice name.

SPS are strange that way.  Take a blue millepora.  Not all blue millepora are the same IMO.  Sure they are all the same colour and even the same species but some may be deeper blue, hardier, and faster growing.  I have owned 3 or 4 blue millepora and the palmers was noticeably better in all those categories to the others.

In addition to what Darryl said, there may be next to no noticeable difference between the prostrata he noted and a mille that is called fire and ice (I didn't realize there was one floating around - I assumed those calling it the fire and ice mille had simply mis-labelled it and that it was the same as the prostrata).  To be honest with you, I can't really tell much difference between the prostrata and a mille - the prostrata has slightly thicker main branches and a bit sparser growth pattern (compared to the tighter more uniform structure of a mille).  I would probably call it for a mille if it weren't for Darryl telling me it was a prostrata.  However, it also has a ton of polyp extension and looking at it and my sunset mille, not sure really if I can convince myself of much of a difference.  My palmer's blue seems to grow in a more uniform manner than both the palmer's and sunset.  Either way, the piece I got from Darryl is a ridiculously fast grower and very hardy.

If you got if from Rick, its a good chance that its the same one that I have (that came from Darryl that came from Dayne); I think I sold him a bunch of frags of it around a year ago.

The fire and Ice milli that I sold you came from Fragalot about 2 years ago or more now. Not sure there is a difference or not? As for the Palmers, it is the real deal. It came directly from Darryl and I am quite certain he was the only one around with that exact piece.

I have a browned out frag of fire and ice prostrata.
I find the prostrata doesn't branch off as much. The millies all tend to be more clustered when they start to grow.

Pretty sure that's palmers Duke.  Looks great.

As far as millepora vs. Prostrata. That was just a guess I made based on the way it grew for me but to tell you the truth I'm not very confident in that.

Also remember there can be differences in appearance from tank to tank and even placement with in the tank (ie. high vs.low).

I can tell that is the same one originating from me. Needs a bit more light but will turn into a beaut.

Looks just like mine....I got mine from Darryl. From what I understand, the palmers blue Milli should be all blue.... And dark blue at that.... Seems as tho the polyps and body will have contrasting blues but in the end should be all dark blue..... And come from Darryl ;) lol
