Yes, and it will get more expensive lol. I have 2 of what you linked actually. But what you linked is for the second one. You need to buy a full Neptune Apex for the second one to work. Best couple hundred I spent and saved a lot of money in the long run.

That is absolutely the best piece of hardware I have purchased. No getting under the tank to pull plugs, no stuck heater, and on and on. That's why I bought another power bar from Unibob. I can link them together, keep everything controlled (ADD, OCD lol) and most important is avoid disasters. The apex look expensive but the first time they save you, they are free

I need an intervention. The more I spend the more you guys are telling me I need to spend. I just want to have a few fish and some nice corals. If I wanted an expensive hobby I would have bought a boat!

Nice fish in a fish only tank = cheap, closer to fresh water expences.

The nicer the coral, the more expences. A controller is not needed, there are peeps running great tanks on power bars and timers.

I sold my boat. And upgraded my tank.

An Achilles isn't even gas money to get fishing and back lol

You don't need to spend a million. Just do what you can

start with the basics then upgrade as the funds become available theres alot of 8 outlet power bars with 4 connected to a timer and 4 constant current. the main things when considering a power bar in my opinion are ones rated for outdoor or damp conditions and to look at how sensitive it is to flip the breaker as alot are useless and only activate with large voltage spikes.

In the end you get what you pay for and a cheap powerbar close to alot of salty water will never turn out well long term. A fish tank isnt much use if your house burns down after all

Only if it's big enough to hide in!

I am an Apex user myself but I do have something similar to one of these in my fish room:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812119283
No more dangling wires I just switch on or off the outlet I need, convenient and affordable (I would not put it under a cabinet in a high humidity environment though)

There is also these for those with bulky timers and what not attached

Haven't used them but they look promising for the above mentioned application.

Good stuff,

I'm really leaning towards a strip power bar. Like you mentioned reefgeek. I think I could keep most if not all the cords at least a foot back of the all in one fusion that I have.

I have one of these http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/8-outlet-power-strip-and-digital-timer/6000016947705

Paid over twice the price two months ago at home hardware. But it does work well, the issue is the outlets are way too close together making it difficult to plug everything in.

Apex will be on my wish list right after a bigger place and before the 370z :)

I bought two of these a couple years ago. Worked flawlessly until about a month ago, when the clock/timer completely crapped out. Might just need button cell replaced, but haven't gotten around to see if that's the solution.

They have them on the Amazon.ca site for $47 but if ordered on the USA site it's $32 with exchange rate. Not sure about shipping costs. Says free shipping but not sure to Canada.

Thank I will definitely look into it.

Edit:

Tried to buy but this seller will not ship to my address

I looked into these power bars . I think they are called DJ power strips and they have all the outlets on the back with separate switches on the front. Angus Audio in Cambridge tried to get one in for me and their supplier in Montreal who imports these from the USA had to send the last ones back because they didnt pass the CSA certification for Canada.
For now I use a good power bar and pull the plugs out as required. Also have timers on the power bars for my lights....
All connected to a GFI outlet.

meh, if it passes in the USA I'm happy with it, Canada is just over paranoid.

Now if it was coming direct from like nigeria or china, then I might pass.
