wasnt this question already posted ?  I use dual BRS reactor for GFO and carbon using a MJ 1200 they go right into the return pump section .... Pellets TLF 150 reactor run with MJ1200 into skimmer input .

I am the exact same as this with my GFO/Carbon online in the refuge section, as opposed to return.

UF-15 reactor for bio-pellets. It is plummed directly into my return pump manifold. Output from reactor goes right to my skimmer input. BRS Dual reactor for GFO/ Carbon. Running off a MJ1200 for now until I get a new adaptor that doesn't leak... Output goes into my second compartment of my sump that contains live rock.

Re: Question of the day

phosban reactors for carbon and GFO and a vertex reactor for pellets, 1 maxijet for the phosbans, and one for the pellets.  The GFO/carbon has a little sock on the output, the pellets do not, both are in the return pump section.

Hey Pat, maybe the output from the pellets into the skimmer is causing the stink?  Mine goes into the tank, then skimmer works as usual on the returned tank water.  -maybe- you are giving food to bacteria in the skimmer gunk instead of bacteria in the tank??

Re: Question of the day

From what i have read on every single bio pellet thread and even the container they came in that the output of the pellet reactor should be placed into the skimmer input area ?? Thoughts on this ?? I am  doing this wrong lol

Re: Question of the day

I dunno, but aren't the pellets supposed to be supplying food for the bacteria, in the tank as well as on the media?  If it gets skimmed out is it really doing anything?

I think you have it backwards salty the bacteria grows on the pellets , which  the pellets are the bacteria food source and when the pellets are tumbled between each other  the bacteria growing on the pellets is knocked off into the water colume and should be skimmed out and not enter the tank .. i think that would be counter productive having them not run threw the skimmer ?? thoughts

Hmm.  interesting.  Could definitely be why your gunk smells worse than mine (haha that sounds funny).  I'll have to do a bit more research.... there wasn't really any info or instructions with this thing.

Lots of people plumb their reactors right into the skimmers, I recall Blob-79 doing that. I've also heard that corals love that bacteria from the pellets, With a decent skimmer it should be skimming most of it out either way.

Most people who are using them are aiming for low
Nutrient systems and feed the corals themselves.

Re: Question of the day

Well I'm going to look to at least have the output in the skimmer section tomorrow, hey I won't argue with good advice :)
