The skimmer likely freaked due to the excess nutrients. 

On the plus side, your lps will likely be thrilled.  Your sps will likely not.  Aren't auto feeders electric?  It didn't trip the GFI and/or kill everything in the tank?

Get rid of that thing and just feed on a schedule :)

I think the question is how did it fall in, he has egg crate over his tank.

Yea I would do a water change, suck up any uneated food if its still in a non mucus form.

It's a battery auto feeder and I have it when I'm in Windsor I know tank is getting feed ;) and wife feeds as well and the skimmer must have went crazy after all the food  >:D

All part of this Fantastic hobby of ours, When shit happens hopefully your home so you can look after it. I was out all night and I un plugged my skimmer cause it's just not dialed in yet and was over flowing as well, just air but I'm glad I did it cause the tank looks great and the skimmer is finally back on line.

We'll tank Looks good after all that check all my levels things look good washed my skimmer pump cleaned it up dialed it back in and seems fine ;) coral and fish are happy
