I have a 12 gal. Nano reef with lots of life and two of my prize blacker ice clown fish I need to do a water change. The only problem I'm having is this is the best reef i have ever had and I'm getting cold feet on messing with it. How much water should I remove? Hmmmmmm. #nanoreefproblems

depends on how fast your nitrates are building up i have alot of filter feeders and tons of chaeto and have stretched mine to 25 gal every 3 weeks on my 125 total water volume close to 180 but 10-15% seems to be average recommendation for most ppl just dont exceed 25%

Like Torx and Poseidon said. More frequent is best for a smaller system. I'd say do 1-2 gals every week.

My W/C schedule is 15gals on weeks 1 and 3 and 30gals on weeks 2 and 4. I'm at about 240gals total water volume

. I do 10 percent weekly and religiously, My Nitrate never gets high but I can see the difference that clean water has on the system, The Corals thrive and the fish are more active, i'd do 1 gallon every week on the cube, this may seem drastic but I was told a long time ago that nanos could sustain 50 percent weekly and thrive. seems a lot higher than i'd go
