When I plug in the power, the pump turn on right away and pump water. It continues to pump until I stop it. I set the sensor on the water line submerged and only the top side above the water. What am I doing wrong?

When I first set mine up, I installed the "stop sensor" (lol) upside down. You might want to check that...
Really? the manual and YouTube video shows not upside down for Tunze 3152 though .

The other model that comes with eye sensor is installed upside down.

Hmmm...I have to try that then. but if it woks with upside down, then it is strange that it is contradicted with the manual and the YouTube reviews especialy for a made in Germany product.

I'm just sharing with you what I did and I had the same problem as you are having. But none of this plumbing and technical stuff comes easily to me. But I love the learning!
Let us know what your issue is/was when you get it figured out.

Looks like you have in installed correctly for the version that it is. Float switches are basically a magnetic ring in a float, flipping a magnetic switch in the post. If the glass is very thin, 3/16" or less, the magnet holder itself can pin down the float so it will not work, a shim of acrylic or rubber placed between the magnet and glass should solve it. Also make sure no other magnets are near the controller or float.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it is not working. it keeps pumping water despite the sensor is already completely submerged. i had to cut off the power

Is the float rising with the water level? You can reach in and just feel for it. Is the float in the up or down location?

I can see the float moves up as the water goes up. now it is on upside down position as josh suggested.

This. Putting cardboards between the magnet solved the issue. Many others on others forum had to do the same thing. Weird for a German product!

Thanks Torx

So I received the controller replacement and after I installed it, it still does the same thing. I also put thicker cardboard between the magnets. Once it connect to the power, the pump turn on automatically and pump water for 1.8 minutes and then beep every 10 seconds. The strange thing is even though the jumper is on the second setting which is for over than 26 Gallons tank, if it is working properly it is supposed to pump for 3 full minutes as per manual. After I turn the power off and on (the manual says to reset it back to normal I have to do this), the pump right away pumping water again for 1.8 minutes. This is all happening while the float sensor is completely submerged under the water.

If I change the jumper to the first setting which is for tank less than 26 gallons, the pump turns on for about 5 seconds and then stop. The same thing this is all happening while the float sensor completely submerged under the water.

This is sucks! What's the odd this is happening to me even after the replacement of the controller? Anyone is experiencing this??

I am tired of all of this and I just want something that plug and play and works!

Any recommendation?

Have you tried pulling the float off, flip it over and put it back into the housing? I had to do that once with a new float switch ( or hook up an ohm meter to confirm )
I have also had issue as @TORX said with magnets. Not just the magnet holding the float switch, but another magnet that was close by and threw it off.

flip it over how? the float can only be installed in one way which is horizontal with black ring inside the float on the bottom. You can't really flip it over without changing the position as per the manual.
I already put carboards between the magnets. The cardboard is much thicker than the tank as well.

The distributor thinks that it might be electronic devices surrounding it?

Last night I changed the jumper setting to the less than 26 gallons setting and I moved the controller outside and back up the cabinet far enough from the electronic devices.

So this morning I woke up and the water level is below the float sensor and the sensor is totally exposed to air, and the ATO didn't activate. I had to turn it off and on to activate it. Only this time it didn't stop after 5 seconds but continue to pump water until it move the float sensor up and shut it off automatically. I should not have to turn off and on the power to activate the ATO. I will give it time for 2 more days and see how it is, and provide you with progress or lack of it.
