to much light

Hey guys I'm getting a bit of sun on front glass of my tank not sure if I should cover my front glass with some cardboard when not home or run lights later in day

Best to cover the tank or move it to a better place. or you will be fighting green glass all the time.

Not true.  My tank is right in front of a bay window and no problem algae to speak of.  NO3 and PO4 gives you algae problems.  Also some algae is to be expected because if you cant grow some algae you cant grow corals.....just look at nice tanks with thriving refugiums full of algae.  Its when you have a nutrient problem and/or a lack of critters to take care of the algae that it becomes a problem.

I agree with Darryl on this one. You are providing all the light algae needs regardless. Your light and refugium light (if you have one) is all that is needed for algae. Sunlight is providing nothing more than some additional rays, which, it is travelling through multiple panes of glass before it even enters your tank. Algae requires not only light, but, PO4 and nitrates which, as stated, are the main concerns.

The only alge I have is on top of glass that's all no phosphate are low 0.3 and all my other stuff is great I'm running carbon and rophose

Sunlight should get you better coral growth. Its full spectrum light

So long as you have nutrients under control, the sunlight shouldn't be a problem. Fish might not get enough dark, rest time though...

0.3 po4 reading is not really that low......
I have mostly undetectable po4 and sometimes a slight .02.... I get algae on my glass eventually....I'm sure most people do....
Your tank light alone will easily produce algae if you have nutrients, especially if you are reading 0.3 po4.....what's your nitrate at??
