Thinking about Starting a Puffer Tank

So I have an extra tank with lights and the works just sitting around and I have been pondering starting a dwarf puffer tank. Ive been looking into other research but cant find much so I'm turning to the members here!

Here are a few of my questions;

Ive got just regular LED lights from petsmarts I'm assuming these are OK? Ive only ever used T5 HO and there will not be any coral in this tank

I understand that puffers are slow swimmers so is 30X flow in a tank too much?

I'm thinking about trying getting a Valentini.

any input would be greatly appreciated thanks :)

I've kept puffers a long time and have had many over the years. I think the flow u said should be fine. They r slow swimmers but can move fast when they want. The lights u mentioned should be fine, on my current puffer tank I have one t8 light that is 6" shorter than the tank. Also puffers can jump out of the tank so be careful. I didn't believe that years ago when I was told this n learned when my porcupine puffer came sailing out the top of the tank one day. The puffer was ok but I take measures to avoid that now. Puffers r great, they r very friendly and get use to the person feeding them n will beg for food. Ive had puffers spit water out of the top of tank and other stuff. They r kind of like dogs of the aquarium world. Personally I like the burrfish and porcupine puffers best then dogface, as I find they have the best personalities. I keep multiple puffers in one tank with no problems. Best of luck with ur puffer tank. I'm sure u will fall in love with them as very many people do.
Also puffers r messy eater n make lots of waste so good filtration and skimmer is a must. I buy shrimp and scallops from grocery store and cut them up to feed my puffers. I buy fresh water snails to feed them to help keep their teeth worn down enough. Puffers teeth r like a fused beak and if they grow too much the puffer won't be able to eat and the teeth will need to be trimmed. I've never had that problem in the very many years I've kept puffers. Feel free to message me if u have any other questions as I know I didn't cover everything.
