So could use some help here , so 125 g tank (6’long) I would need a 60” fixture and how many bulbs ? Also would be interested in a reefbrite , would I get a 60” aswell and only 1 reefbrite ? And how do people normally mount them ? And how many bulb fixture would I need for a mixed reef (with some sps) and with running bother could I get more life out of the t5bulbs if I say run the t5s for 5-6 hrs a day and the reefbrite for 3-4 hours a day , maybe 2hrs in the morning and 2hrs before all lights are off ? What’s the magic combo here ?

I used two 36 inch reefbrites on a 48
Mine are actinic and it seems pretty even coverage.
About 7 inches above tank.
Mine are the lumi lite ones. Not the more powerful ones either.

Shimmer, extra lighting, something to run while mains are off. They come on first and off last.

I’m a firm believer of not putting all your eggs in one basket. My tank is split into two four foot sections with 1 Radion g2 xr30w, 1 g4 xr15w, 1 48” reefbrite 50/50 xho, and 2 54w 48” t5 with blue plus bulbs. This way if you have a problem with a unit your tank doesn’t go without. So all together I’m running 8 fixtures on my tank with very good results. Keep your eye open for used deals and ramp your system up over time.
With all this redundancy I’m able to get away with only changing my t5 bulbs once a year at Black Friday and the coral doesn’t care.

I've never given it much thought about what to do if my fixtures decided to crap out, I suppose I get by with one of my LED fixtures if I had to. I have two pendants, I should get new T5 bulbs for my 4 bulb T5 fixture, then I'm good.
