So I am redoing the pony tank when I move.. they are going into a 60 g cube.. but, I am at a loss as far as the sump goes..

~ limited space so the only size would be a 10/15 g..
~ cannot tie it into the big tank

My question is; can I so a 2 chamber sump instead of a 3 chamber..or does it have to be a 3 chamber...

The skimmer that I will be using is a Reef Octopus NW 150...

thoughts anyone...:)

For a 60 gallon cube, you could use a cube sump. I have a Trigger Systems Ruby CUBE Sump - 20 inch

It is basically split in half, then the top have is split as well. The return pump goes in the top smaller section in the photo. I am loving this sump and plan on doing a similar on my 120 DT when I redo that sump in a few weeks.

I really like it but, it looks really pricey.. are you going to build one...

My sump is just a single compartment with the skimmer in there and the return pump and lots of rock and bioballs. Simple and easy.

thanks for all the info, my skimmer is over rated for this tank so it will work.. I just wasn't sure if it would work..

I have rock to go in there but, no bio balls..

I only have bioballs in there because they were what I used when raising fry. They were great in that application and I didn't have any live rock in with the fry system in case I had to sterilize everything again if the tanks crashed. The tanks never did crash so all those bioballs did the trick helping me raise all of my fry. Now that I have no fry I have consolidated everything into one system and combined both individual sumps into one that feeds all of my seahorse tanks together. Hence both bioballs and rock.
