Hey everyone.

So it seems like I'll be needing to put glass lids on my DT to reduce moisture in my basement where the yank sits.

I was thinking about this over the weekend.

Starphire Glass Lids

I want to limit the amount of light and spectrum lost when using a glass lid over the DT.

Because starphire has less impurities in it. I would think it would affect light levels and spectrum the least.

What does everyone think? Is it just a waste of money? Or is it worth it?

Your better off buying a dehumidifier
, evap on the the tank isn't a bad thing, and you don't want to limit it becuase you will be creating a sauna with the lids and then you'll probally need a chiller

I have my 90gal sump and my 65gal frag tank all plumbed into the system. So I'm not worried about gas exchange. Also my basement is the coldest part of my house so high temps are not a concern either.

I will be doing glass lids. Just wanted peoples opinion on starphire glass lids

I clean tanks for a living and 99% of the reef tanks I clean never have a problem with the glass lids if cleaned and maintained properly. I know it's an area that most people neglect. But I promise you. Mine will not be neglected

Haha that's good, an yea I guess you've had the experiance
Starphire is low in iron correct so I would assume it will allow light to travel through better than regular glass.

Depending on sizes of glass, I have some tanks you can take apart here. FREE, just get them gone :)

I don't think starphire is going to make any difference when the glass is 1/4" thick or less.

That's what I was thinking too. The thickness might not affect it much.

I'll probably run a 6mm to 10mm for the glass lids.

Thanks for the offer of taking apart a few tanks. But I'm looking to have custom cut to fit my overflow and input line perfectly.
