Starfish Help!!!

I noticed my starfish two days ago with some "wounds" on it:

And then today:

They seem too convenient for "wounds".... too symmetrical.

Is there something happening to this guy????

Unfortunately it's probably disintegrating. Most of the reef safe stars have nutritional requirements that are hard to satisfy long term. Not including the brittles and serpents that are completely different creatures.

I agree with AdInfinitum, it probably hasn't got the nutrition it needs. I'm so sorry it is happening to yours, it looks like it was a beautiful one. :(

mine went that way as well, it seemed to be eating what i was feeding it but only lasted a few months

This happened to mine also... apparently fromias are notorious for this. As the others mentioned they have specific nutritional needs that aren't fully understood.

that's a shame, I've had my chocolate chip starfish for over 3 years, and it's still going strong and not bothering anything in the tank.
