*shrug* I don't find it loud at all. The loudest part about it I find is if I am lazy with the topoff, and I can hear the water fall noise as the water exits the skimmer.

If you want a quiet skimmer, consider a bubble magus curve. You know how much i hate skimmer noise!

God I love having my sump in the basement....

Hahaha. If I could I would have put it in the basement but I wasn't about to start breaking up my concrete floor to do that.

My sump is huge.

But both noise level and footprint need to be kept to a minimum when using an under tank/cabinet sump. Bubble magus curve fits the bill!
