After a long run of great success. I am losing a lot of my sps. Not sure why. I haven't really changed anything.
They are all slowly bleaching out and dieing. LPS and softies are fine.
Hmmmmm sucks.
I know I have seen others on here have issues like this and never figure it out. Strange change of results.

What are your Alk, CA, MAG, and PO4 readings? What kind of lights are you using? Have you tested for stray voltage in the tank?

Testing again today. Everything seems fine. Only thing i changed was buying bulk additives instead of the premixed stuff. But my parameters are all the same.
Sucks, A lot of my sps that hasnt turned white is turned brown. I run gfo reactor, just changed a month ago.
Not really any big issues that i can think of. I have missed some water changes though
All my softies, acanas, favia, and a few sps are fine.

Mag 1280 maybe a little low, but not horrible I don't think
alk 12.5 oops maybe this is the problem. It was fine two weeks ago. What do you guys think.

Rapid Alk changes could definitely cause the problems 12.5 is very high.

Browning is also caused by excess nutrient levels. Have you tested your phos and nitrate lately? (rapid increases in these will do the same) With acros dying it will contribute to a rise in nutrients as well (can be a viscous cycle)

Definitely check you PO4 and NO3 levels asap.

just don't bring down your alk too quickly or you will have problems, do it over a number of weeks to be safe.
Its the sudden change that causes stress to your inhabitants

Turn alk doser off. And just watch. Let whatever corals are not overly affected consume some of the alk that's in there, as it balances out your corals hopefully and should bounce back and start to consume more again, this is when you would start your alk doser again. I would turn off for now and just monitor your calcium/alk. You mag should be fine.

You're not alone on this one...

My SPS growth had really taken off lately so keeping to my routines steady...then growth dropped right off..tested and Ca and Alk were through the floor. My dosing hadn't kept up with the increased consumption. Most things were fine but a couple colonies started to stn from the bottom up. Then as I brought the levels up very slowly I still burned a bunch of tips and lost one of my wild pieces that was still a bit delicate...

Really all so predictable...makes you feel like an idiot when you figure it out....

alk was 11 yesterday.
Its dropping slowly. Will get it stabilized again and see whats left.
Bummer. I might have some really nice white table ornaments after this is done.

Taking along time for the alkalinity too come down. But some corals are looking a little better. Lost a lot. I now have a nice collection of pure white coral colonies. Might sell them to some new guys as easy to take care of coral. LOL.

Alk is now 5.6. Turned on the dosing pump at about 1/3 normal dosing and will monitor from there. Some corals looking happy again. Some, well, must of scared the hell out of them, because they are white as a ghost.

5.6 is really low!

Just be careful not to raise the alk to fast. Maybe 0.5 per day to be on the safe side. Any Alk swings up or down will stress your corals out

6.5 today, coming up slowly. Corals are looking way happier,and some that have turned white are getting colour back
