So I have always wanted a sohal tang. I am now upgrading to a 220. Do u think that would be big enough? Now I am not looking for a quote from a crazy fish database that says u need 300 gallons for a regal tang lol
I was hoping for true life experiences. What do u think? I have heard that sohal's can be nippy has anyone experienced this?

Liveaquaria says 250g which is still a 6ft tank like yours. But it grows to like 1.5ft. Beautiful fish for sure, would you be concerned at all that he would take away from the rest of the tank being so big?

Nippy is not the word...they have huge caudal spines and they will literally gut fish slashing open their sides and they are relentless.

If you get one it will be your single showpiece...mine would happily tolerate all kinds of small fish no problems but anything that it considered a rival was dead....large angels as well as other tangs.

That said, in my 200gal he was OK size wise for almost 7 years but the more crowded he was the more aggressive he became. You probably saw him in BigShow's 10' tank...but the last time I talked to Dave the Sohal was starting to outgrow that in terms of keeping his aggression under control so his next home was apparently going to be Ripley's.
