Small yellow tang in a 40 gallon ????

Is this just wrong or is it ok till it matures ???

i think it should be ok for a while ,, mine is in a 65 and its plenty big enough

People always say no, it should be in a tank it can swim in, When I had my 55 long ago, the best thing I did was put a yellow tang in there. It really helped control algea issues that I had. Personaly I think they are mean fish and wouldn't keep another one but each to their own. He will be fine for awhile.

Ive got a yellow tang in a 60 gallon, and a yellow tang and a hippo tang in a 65 gallon tank. No issues.

Yea well I have 8 tangs in my 40 gallon only kidding, have 1 small kole tang.

its fine until it grows, i know a guy that runs a 40g and he buys all kinds of different real small tangs, keeps them for a bit and sells or trades for new smaller ones once they get to big.
