I have my AIO tank cycling for 37 days now. Both ammonia and nitrite are at 0. Chaeto in one of the chambers. I think my tank is ready but my fish and xenia are still in QT.

Can I run Aquamaxx HOB skimmer now even though no livestock except chaeto in tank as I understand that it takes time to break in?

It won't hurt anything to have it running...I'd prefer to have it in working order before I start putting fish and coral in anyway .

Just wondering , sometimes skimming 24/7 on a smaller tank with a higher rated skimmer will acually skim to much of the good stuff out and that's not good (I've done it myself ) I'd run it for 48hours then take a day off if you see a lot of dark crud in the cup keep skimming if it's nothing or very light hold off a day then try again. This is just food for thought !

If it's food and food only if wait till you get some fish in there and run the skimmer when you have them or your nitrates go up .

once you get your tank stocked you will know... when mine needs to be emptied it smells like one of my dogs crapped somewhere...that is a real good learning curve..

Just let it run it will not hurt if anything it will add O2 to the system and help the Bacteria to develop. Just keep an eye on it as it will change as you add things and as the tank cycles, you will have to readjust as needed.
