return pump

hey guys im looking to buy  a return pump for my 40 fal frag tank im not sure what size to go its a 40 gal with a 20 gal sump any ideas please

6-10x the tank volume. But that is total gph for the whole tank including circ pumps. I would go for an actual utility pump over a powerhead...such as a mag 2 or 3, sicce has some nice cheap utility pumps as well. I ran my frag tank with a mag 3 @ 3ft head with no issues.

Eheim compact 2000 plus. Dead silent and adjustable flow rate I run mine open all tge way and it really pushes some water!!! 628gph
