red velvet stuff

What might this be. Its a deep red or purple velvet stuff. Attached to rocks. Very hard to get it off.
its slowly growing every where.

i think thats red turf algae, its a bitch to get rid of, mexican turbos might eat it, tuxedo urchins might eat or others have has success with rabbitfish.

That is red cotton candy algae (hobby name).  The only thing that will eat it is mexican turbos.  Good news is the mexican turbos will eat it all up no problem.

i have 2 mexican turbos  ,2 urchins,amd a fighting conch i got few. weeks ago....the mexicans are purple now.  ..coraline covered shells

I don't think it's cotton candy but is a type of red turf algae, my rocks are currently covered in it too. Generally the solution is Mexican turbo snails so I'm gonna have to grab some soon too.
