Raw sea food

Once in a while I feed chopped raw shrimp to my fish. Do you folks feed them anything else that is available in grocery stores? i.e. salmon, squid, clams, octopus?

Wal-Mart seafood medely.  I used to buy fresh mussels when I had some eels, but after a couple of outbreaks of parasites and worms I learned to freeze them before feeding them.

I used seafood medley, grinder it up in a coffee grinder added in some cyclopeeze and some myisis and froze it all.

All I feed is nls pellets and seaweed, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong with all these concoctions you guys are stirring up lol.

Thank you all for answers. Do you serve as is, or rinse with water first? Nori is the sushi algae sheet, right? The one from Super Store? I hope they do not add any spices to it .

nori is a sheet. break a peice off and throw in blender or clip a chunk to a clip

Just make sure it's the plain one, they usually say whether there are spices added. Spices would be bad I would expect unless you have a fish with a spicy pallet I guess lol

Like do you freeze it in ice cube trays and then just toss a cube (or half a cube) each day or something?

I like the idea of a natural variety mix for feeding.

I was the same Brandon, I feed NLS daily and occasionally I will supplement with Cyclopeeze, mysis, and nori.

But having a pre-frozen medley that includes everything on a daily basis could be pretty darn simple and a great way to get the variety on a more consistent basis.

I froze then in trays smaller then your average ice cubes. Then I just pop em out like a blister pack and feed. I don't make more then a couple months worth at a time. Gets either freezer burnt or just crap after 3-4 months. I also add selcon to my mix also, which expires quickly.

Do you feed em frozen? Like just toss the frozen cube in the tank and let nature take its course?

I get the seafood medley, silversides, shrimp, clams and oysters with some chopped garlic cloves mixed in a magic bullet and then frozen in freezer bags. I also take nori about 2" wide and wet it fold in half and roll a tube then elastic band to rock. Tangs attack it when i put it in. My six line loves the nori too

i bought those mini cube trays thata re made of silicone yu buy off ebay and do like one tray at a time  and make a new batch more often put a sheet of saran wrap over top when yur ready ro freeze it

I thaw it in a cup of tank water first then feed.

I have been freezing it flat in a freezer bag then I break off chunks and feed it frozen, I think I will look into smaller cube trays like larry is talking about. That would probably be easiest

I was doing the same thing. Really no big difference, just a lot cleaner looking, that's about it.

What about salmon or other marine fish? Are they forbidden as a reef food? Too much oils and/or fat?
