I shut down one of my powerheads at night. Well it's on a timer via night mode on the reef keeper.

Mine stay cranked 24/7 except for when I feed.....then everything is off except my wavebox. Just experiment...... And I think a lot of sticks like high high flow while lps don't mind a more gentle flow..... Mixing it up randomly wouldn't hurt either.....

Did you know, the sun drives the wind and the wind drives the waves/current. So yes the ocean does settle down at night with no sun powering it all.

I really don't think it matters if you so or don't slow things down at night, just like moonlights it all comes down to personal preference.
