Is there a plug in switch I can get so my skimmer doesnt come back on after a power outage.
One i would physically have too reset to start the skimmer backup.

you could buy an apex and program in a delay for the skimmer anytime the return pumps shut off. thats how i have mine, that way when you shut your return pump off via apex, the skimmer auto shuts off too.. nice and easy and dont have to remember about the stupid skimmer.. cause when they overflow it sucks..

heh I use the apex and a float switch...if the water level in the sump is too high it doesn't let the skimmer come on.  I've had the pound of black gunk floating in the sump once or twice lol.

meh. those floats fail alot.. why not just have the skimmer only run if your return pump is ON and DELAY it 5 minutes on start also. that way you have 2 failsafes.

If you are okay with wiring, you could do it with a button and a relay.
The button would apply power to the relay and the relay could be wired to seal itself in and power a socket.

  button      relay coil
---||---|------()
  rel  |
---||---|----Power Socket

Heh I have 2 floats wired in, actually 3, I have a low level one two, but two high level ones.  Pages my phone too when the water level comes up (and a 4th in the ato to let me know it's running dry!)

My return pumps are manual switched on/off because I never want them off, except during a water change.  So no need to waste an apex plug on them.  I got one of those american DJ powerbars with switches on each outlet :)

here is a cheaper idea. It requires a man reset after power outage.

Yep usually any gfci that is on an extension cord or power bar will automatically turn off too, it's so when your using your power tools outside and the power shuts off, you don't get a finger cut off when all a sudden it turns back on randomly.

if yur looking into a new skimmer ..look into one with a DC pump ..as they have a slow start after shutting off after power off and feeding.. but yu can get a apex. to time it ..when to come back on after power off
