Power Bar, Electrical Options And ?'s

I have some questions, again.....

I was told not to mount my Aprx jr under the stand because of corrosion. Place it outside the stand to extend it's life.

I see pictures of tanks all the time with power bars and electrical stuff all plugged in under the stand in the sump section. Is this for convenience that people do that since a replacement power bar isn't a huge expense?

Would it be best if all our time ran to the outside of the stand and plugged in there?

Is there a power bar that you guys specifically recommend? I was thinking something that you can turn on/off each outlet would be pretty beneficial for this hobby.

I had extra space under my cabinet so I built a shelf running the entire length of the stand and all my electrical plugs are connected above it shielding them from salt spray. I guess a lot of people don't have much space above the skimmer cup though so this may not work. On my previous setup I built a tiny little cabinet that sat next-to my tank I then ran all my stuff neatly along the frame of my stand out the back and into the little cabinet.

I use this:

I don't see the point in having a controller for my system as my lights have a built in timer and I prefer my pumps running constantly as apposed to on off. Plus I usually have someone to watch my tank when I go away. I know that there are more uses for controllers and perhaps on bigger systems they make sense...

Kill A Watt PS-10

I watched it Thursday and again today.

I was thinking about mounting a power bar to the outside of the stand and run the cables through the stand to the power bar. I think as long as I don't have a birds nest of cables it could look neat and tidy. The bulk of the cables will be within the stand, the plug will just pop out and plug into the powerbar on the outside.

I guess this all comes down to the length of the supplied cords on the skimmer, heater, etc.

Quick question:

Do you plug your Apex directly into the wall, or does it go into the power bar as well?

(I have Apex jr)

I have a regular receptacle in the wall, so I will have to change it out into a GFCI one.

There are a bunch of options on homedepot.ca.

The breaker it will be on is 15 amp. Based on that, which GFCI receptacle off HD.ca should I grab?

If it's a 15 amp breaker I ould use the 15 amp gfci that way the circuit can't be overloaded by plugging a 20 amp device into it.

Just a random comment but if you happen to Run Radions be aware that there are random GFCI that like to be a pain in the ass with the Radion Switching power supplies and can and often will trip the GFCI circuit.

I'm not rich enough to have radions, so that won't be an issue. Ever. [emoji6]
