Polyp Bailout?

Shut the carbon off and see what happens.

It's been offline for a few days now. Just hoping I see a turn around soon or that definatly wasn't the issue.

the clearer water will increase your PAR, maybe raise your light or shut off a couple bulbs if you can.

Im just going to run 2 bulbs for a few days and see what happens.

I may have came across what the problem is/was. I added carbon online about a month ago, it was after this I noticed the \"bailout\". I'm thinking the change to clearer water quality may have effected the lps. What do you guys think?

What type of Carbon?

I've never run carbon on my tank before using this stuff.

If it makes you feel better, I have had a few acan frags melt away as well sucks cuz I have lost a few nice ones but BIGSHOWs monster mash is still growing well!!

I never ran carbon either until about 1 year ago or so....I don't know how much it is really needed.....anyone had major changes from using or removing carbon?

I went from piss yellow water to crystal clear water.  I'll never go without carbon.  However I wouldn't worry if I took it offline for a length of time, it's a mechanical filtration device.

The thing Is there not melting away I'm finding all polyps that are just detaching from the skeleton I find Them on the Sam bed right now there's a few still hanging onto the colony by a little bit of tissue but the whole polyps still looks perfectly normal. There's no tissue melting away it's otherwise the colonies perfectly fine looking. 
The Popes work perfectly fine there puffed out they look healthy even when they're detaching from the skeleton

Hey Pat, I found this, looks like the most probable cause is stress from water conditions being poor or changing rapidly, could have been the carbon or possibly something happened with your pellet reactor causing a rapid change, everything I've read says the polyps can survive and start growing new skeletons.

Links not working.. That's what I am  thinking it is Cal, the carbon or doing that mod to the tlf reactor for my pellets. I'm going to slow the flow in the pellet reactor a bit and the carbons been offline.
