Plumbing Question!

I've decided to remove my return pump, Danner Supreme Aqua Mag 950 and replace it with a Jebao DCP 8000 Sine wave pump 2110.
I want to "T" off the return having half the flow go to the tank and half the flow return to the sump where it will go through different types of media and / or reactors.
The return pipe going to the tank is currently only 3/4" , but the Jabao is configured to run on 1", 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" piping.
My question is ... should I rip out the return pipe and put in a larger return pipe or stick with what I have and pick up an adaptor to fit the Jabao to the return pipe.

The pipe which returns water back to the Sump is only 1 5/8" ( 1 3/8" on the inside ) so I can only run so much water into the tank anyways.

If anyone has experience with this type of plumbing, I would certainly appreciate any advice I can get.

what type of drain are you running. i have a herbie set up and with the pump the 1" bulkhead will handle the flow. it is 1.5" until the bulkhead. i ran a 1.5 inch return with manifold, the dropped down to 1" after.

I am just sharing my experience, I did run with Jebao DC12000, but they only last for about 2years. After the first one break down, I bought a second one, same story. So today I do not go for Jebao pumps anymore. The wave makers are good but they to, last about 2years plus. I prefer to browse thru Amazon.ca and try out other pumps.

Hmm....Hopefully the DCP works better then the DC. Lol.

Marks69...My drain system is a DIY. Drilled out. Nothing fancy. I might redo my return to a 1” and see if I can get a little more flow through the tank.

Set it up like a Herbie and it's dead silent and no worries about not being able to handle flow. On my 110 tall I was pushing a barricda to the max from the basement, no power heads in the tank and everything was waving.
