on my 75g i would have no issues removing that center cross member, but a larger tank like yours tony i would be vry dubious about removing it without lots of sensible thought and investigation.

Here are the safety calculations from the Reef Savvy website and their recommendations on rimless and eurobracing based on glass thickness and size of aquarium…  http://reefsavvy.com/faq/

Cut-off height of 1/2 inch glass..

1. 20″ high, up to 48″ long.
2. 18″ high, up to 60″ long.
3. 16″ high, up to 72″ long.
4. 14″ high, up to 96″ long.

Cut-off height of 1/2 inch glass with eurobrace..

1. 28″ high, up to 36″ long.
2. 26″ high, up to 48″ long.
3. 22″ high, up to 60″ long.
4. 20″ high, up to 72″ long.
5. 18″ high, up to 96″ long.

1/2 inch glass with cross brace..
The cutoff height is 29″ high, anything over that will require 3/4″ glass.

3/4 inch rimless..
The cutoff height is 24″ high. In some cases we can go higher depending on the length, width, and water level.

3/4 inch eurobrace..
1. 34″ high, up to 36″ long.
2. 32″ high, up to 48″ long.
3. 28″ high, up to 60″ long.
4. 26″ high, up to 72″ long.
5. 24″ high, up to 96″ long.

3/4 inch cross braced..
The cutoff height is 48″ high, anything over that will require 1″ glass.

I do not think your tank is half inch, its probably 3/8 inch, and it is 30 inches high. You are wise to keep the brace supports
