well i know theres prob more than just me out there pulling out the hair everytime i have to take photos only to have it look so different from what your looking at in person. For those of you with those crazy nice pics i was just wondering what kind of camera your using, what you set your tank lights at and what do you change in your settings.... hopefully this might get more people on board and adding photos of their tank as well

Here is what i use:

Equipment: Canon DSLR Rebel XTI with a Canon EF 100-2.8 Macro USM Lens (I would suggest getting the IS if you can afford it... What a difference it makes lol!)
Lighting: 2 X Par38 (Full Spectrum)
Editing: ACDSee Pro

Technique is something you'll have to learn for yourself through experience

I use my Galaxy S5 camera, then the aviary app, to take out the blues. Definately need a good camera with a good lense for really crisp pics. If your using a Iphone, good luck taking pics lol i hate the iphone camera lol.

I use iPhone all the time- gels for the blue editing and voila, I'm happy

Nikon d7000 with tamaron 90mm macro for close up, Nikon 50mm 1.4 for colony shots.

Nikon D90 here with a Tamron 90 mm macro lens like unibob. I use a tripod, set my white balance to 10k, put the camera into aperture priority mode and set it according to how much I want in focus. Shoot, examine, adjust the exposure adjustment and reshoot until I get the look I want.

Ya', need a good camera for proper shots. My phone just does not cut it for tank shots.

Need one of those fancy shmancy underwater cameras that automatically dip into the tank and pan and tilt and.....sigh.

Guess I will be sticking to the phone for a little while longer.

lmao that was good and thanks for the info guys..... guess im getting into photography now too haha luckily for me my nephew's girlfriend has her own photography thing going on so will have to borrow a couple things and try it out again thanks for the info everyone
