Have been doing some reading about photo periods and my new lighting.

Lights - 2 Kessil A350W's (85%), WavePoint 40watt actinic LED strip (non dimmable)

I currently have just started my system with live rock and hopefully (in time) will venture to corals. Im a walk before we run kind of guy.

Have read an 6-8 hour photo period with LED is common.

Has anyone had any experience with this? What do you guys suggest?

And am also curious that a 40 watt actinic is too strong from lunar lighting? thoughts?

8 hours is a good photoperiod for LEDs of average strength. I was running my LEDs for 8 hours. You can run them for longer if they are turned down and for a shorter period when turned up. I don't know much about the kessil units but I'm guessing you'll be fine.

No clue if that actinic strip is too much but I'm leaning towards maybe. If I recall moonlight Leds are usually 1w each with a total of maybe 10... so 10 watts. 40 may be ok but I'll defer that recommendation to others.
