Hi there, just wondering if anyone can give me advice on buying a test kit. I have not purchased anything as of yet however I would like to get something most agree on...I am hoping to get my tank online and start cycling the first week of Sept. Place to purchase would be nice too...I am participating in brs group buy coming up so would like the product (s) to come from there if possible! Thanks in advance:)

Salifert. Unfortunately I don't believe they have a master kit with multiple types of tests. Like API marine. API will for not it's not totally accurate.

Torx that looks to be a great Test Kit, Where did you get it?
The Red Sea kits are great. There is also a Reef Colours kit that has Iron, Potassium and Iodine tests in it. I know that Big Al's carries the Red Sea products, but I'm sure others do as well.

Bulk reef has the Red Sea kits. Search tour pricing and get the best deal. But they have what's called a marine care test kit, that and a reef, and a phos kit you will have all the basic stuff you need, then like Phil said the colours kit for more advanced testing. You can get most tests as individual tests but will pay more in the long run then if you find the master kits.

I got them at BRS. But reefsupplies.ca carries them as well. I just started checking out their site and reading reviews. Definitely impressed.
Here are the links, I do not have the Color kit, but it may be in my cart shortly:

Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro Test Kit – All in one Calcium, Carbonates and Magnesium kit
Algae Control - Nitrate & Phosphate Test Kit by Red Sea
Red Sea Reef Colors Pro Test Kit - Contains Iodine Pro, Posassium Pro and Iron Pro

Since I put in for the group buy I got everything from BRS. I ordered the two kits you told me about above. I also ordered almost everything else I needed except Lignite and bio pellets, which from the sound of it I can wait until after cycle and fish/rock additions.:(
