Just a few quick pics of my newest resident just a couple of days out of QT. A couple of days with the S.O.B. Powder Blue chasing and munching on her tail... But as long as she adapts it will grow back now that the chasing period is over.

Was eating like a Hogfish even in QT...no sulking...so I'm hoping for the best...

were these the ones that were on sale recently for $45?

Still kicking myself that I didn't grab one while I was there

No those were tiny juveniles that are kind of a craps shoot as to how they will colour up.

IME there is a fair bit of variation in tusks and it isn't just about where they were collected but more specimen to specimen.

nice score, as it looks like it should be a beaut!
They are pretty hardy, so as long as it's eating, it should pull through

Oh yeah, not really worried...I am just surprised that it took that crap from the PBT even for a few days. Years ago when I had one it lived in a pretty aggressive tank and that one didn't take a backseat to anything.

Actually I have another Achilles on order and I am seriously considering dropping a sheet of eggcrate into the DT to divide it in two so that after QT the Achilles can settle in and the two can get to know each other from opposite sides of a barrier.

I'm further considering adding another tang at the same time to spread out the aggression from one potential target.

Interested to know if anyone has tried the tank divider thing with any success?

Just beautiful. It's these types of tanks that give me tank envy as I am not sure I will ever have a large tank. I still search and search to see how I can get the most color out of my small DT with both corals and Fish.

Congrats on Harley Quinn!

I found when I had some aggression between tangs it was easy to solve by removing them all to qt for a few days then put them all back in at the same time . My tangs actually hang together now like they are one big happy family. Also I do know that a acclimation box in the tank for a few days with your new additions works well so maybe the egg crate would do the job?

Removal ng is so tough...The PBT is always the last fish to catch with the trap. I have thought about the box but want the new guy to get to know the tank. My rockscape has some open areas so I can divide the tank without moving too much stuff.

I think it would work ok that way. I also find buying tangs that are housed with other tangs at the lfs makes a big diffrence also

hmmmm, achilles eh? where are you getting it from?

Hows the regal angel doing

The Regal seemed to be doing really well fitting in to the tank, getting bolder and bolder with the Sohal then unfortunately it must have crossed the line. I came home from work one day to find it with 3" gashes carved down both its sides. Above the ribcage so it was still alive . I patched it up and isolated it and it actually healed up most of the damage but then started beating itself up in the smaller tank , got a mouth infection and died. I just have to accept that until I do a tank change I can't add anything larger to the Sohal's tank.

that's too bad about the regal, I was wondering if the HLLE was starting to go away, but I guess he's in a better place now
Those Sohal's can get nasty
