21 x 3watt LEDS = @ 60watts
I would say you are pretty unedumacated

pair a bunch of those with an apex and with the new software update it should be pretty cool and very user friendly to have all the control options of the big name lights.

These would be just like the Radion when assembled and for a few hundred less. Only these will have 42 LEDs and the Radion only has 32. As for more juice...most run their LED's at a fraction of capacity, so I am not sure why people want more juice. Even our buddy Mr Saltwater only runs his Radions at around < 60% at 18" above water level or something like that from his measuring PAR video.

As I read more about them while posting this, the fixtures are actually quite similar in watts used for the LED's, 5 watt whites and the rest all 3watts and they are pretty much all the same model of Cree LED. Personally I like the spectrum more from Rapid. Dammit, and I was all ready for some Onyx from them in a few months, now I am looking at these instead.

My only hesitation is the same as buying a pre-made.  If one or more (or all) the lights go on a puck, you're buying a whole new puck instead of the individual light.  PLUS, I don't see how you avoid sun-tubing (yes I made that up) where you get mega light in a small area, but much less anywhere else.

That said, I would be able to more or less replicate my setup (not sure about colour) with only 6 pucks.

For the 60W estimate I counted in the 5W leds, but underdriven.  They may actually 'rate' these at 100W.

The beauty is that you would really have the ability to dial in your colour with the dimmable units. They don't specify the angle of lens, just regular or wide. If the wide is like 120degrees, this would minimize the "sun tubing" effects. Just like MH, if these are bright enough paired up with an appropriate lens, I think they will be pretty sweet!

Also, I have heard that even through the Kessil's were awarded led of the year, they still need more power. These multichip lights keep getting better.

when I refer to "more juice," this is because most guys only run their LEDs at a fraction of the capacity.

if you have more power to draw from, it will only allow for better efficiency when they are dialled down. For example a 3 watt Led driven at 50% would only be 1.5watts, and increasing the wattage would allow for more light into the tank with a 100watt unit versus a 50watt unit. things will run cooler and last longer

Good point there, I somewhat was thinking the same last night, but I was tired and not 100% on the ball :D

I am super excited about these though, I wish someone around here would like to do them, I wouldn't mind building them. I may get them myself, but not for a bit still.

Kessils are what I think of when I say sun-tubing.  I love the package, don't like the spotlight.  :)  These big chips need optics and then they might be very tempting.

This solderless kit comes with:

Two Aurora Pucks (21 LEDs each)
Two regular or wide angled lenses (will need to be glued on using the included Arctic Alumina)
    One 6" x 20" non-drilled heatsink with splash guard
4 x 0-10V Nano drivers with pot or 4 x LDD-700HW drivers + SE-350-48 power supply (if you have any questions on what controllers are compatible with these drivers please email us at staff@rapidled.com or call us at 650 692 9500)
    1 set Arctic Alumina
    4 Driver Jumpers
    4 Solderless LED Plugs
4 Puck to Puck connector wires (4.5", 6" or 12")
    92mm Vantec Fan (not pictured)
    12V Adapter (not pictured)
    DC Jack Adapter (not pictured)

Same as Radion from what I read I think
