Does anyone know or have a cup to 5gallon ratio? Just tryin to make mixing salt a little less frustrating lol.

Should give you a guideline on the pail.  They are never accurate tho. It varies.

Sorry I came to that conclusion by following the 125ml per 1 gallon it says on the box

I use instant ocean, and If I recall correctly, I think I use 2.5ish cups in a 5 gallon bucket, not quite filled all the way.

I think the bucket directions are for 1.022 aren't they?

Your results may vary.

I believe it was for 1.022 and im not using instant ocean im using h20 salt which is give me a lb to litre ratio. And thats why i asked if anyone had there own measurements made. Thanks tho just made my own measuring cup..

just add and test until you get what you want, eventually it will become a routine, i know in my 30g mixing tank i have to use 13 cups of salt to get it to 1.025,

i thought the rule of thumb was 1/2 cup per gallon.

Yeah i just found a little tupperware that i get 1.026 out perfect with 4 1/4 scoop.

Why? I keep mine at 1.026, too.

Just seems most keep at 1.023-1.025
Is there a reason you are at 1.026?

The salinity on natural reefs has been discussed in previous articles. My recommendation is to maintain salinity at a natural level. If the organisms in the aquarium are from brackish environments with lower salinity, or from the Red Sea with higher salinity, selecting something other than 35 ppt may make good sense. Otherwise, I suggest targeting a salinity of 35 ppt (specific gravity = 1.0264; conductivity = 53 mS/cm).

I use Reef Crystals and I use 2 cups to get 1.024 but i'm using an old green Tupperware cup, have for years, It might be bigger than a cup.

Yeah i just switched from the instant ocean reef crystals, i was tired of the grosse film ot was leavibg in my mixing container and after talkin to someone and doing a little reading i foubd the h20 salt is basicallly top of the line salt. So im going to give this bucket a whirl and see if i see any changes
