Did my Bubbletip eat my platinum clown?? Is it true?
I had a picaso try carpet surfing on Friday. Sunday went to my favorite KW store and bought a platinum to "replace" the picaso and this morning it was gone. Kids are a wreck and wife "pi$$ed!" to say the least. Perfectly healthy fish and it's gone. Gone. And yet my BTA just waving away.... arrg.

Did you check behind the tank? BTA don't normally eat them but it is possible. What are the other fish doing? Any aggression in the tank? I have seen fish jump if you have a small amount of electrical current in the tank. Like from powerhead or heater. Or aggression from other fish.

I have searched the floor. No go.

Quite sure it became lunch. Hence my rant. Why! WHY! They are supposed to coexist. Someone tell my BTA how it's supposed to be.

Loss of a fish is always sad. :'(

They don't normally eat them but it can happen.

Do you have a cat or dog? I have seen fish flip out and get eaten by them.

Was out all evening yesterday. Swimming happily around last night. Dogs not around the tank area. Some what looks like fish poop on oral disc of anenome. And it seems to be smirking.

what kind of bta do you have, I remember seeing a video on an anemone eating a silver slider and I don't know how big they are or the size of your clown.. is there a way that it could have gotten into the sump and through the return pump?

Rose anenome. It's the only possibility. No sump and nowhere else for it to go. Bare bottom tank with limited hiding spots. He is ( or was, lunch).

Sometimes this hobby drives me nuts with coral and fish I have invested so much in the pass few years and sometimes I say I'm out but I can't just love it to much in order for me to get out I must have a other hobby

I hear what your saying, and I think that we have all been there. I almost gave up while doing the upgrade, but like everyone else had way too much money invested to quit..

It is because everyone's tank come with a reef monster that eats unsuspecting fish and corals. He has been my bane for years. ;p

A fish would have to be pretty sick or tiny to be eaten by a BTA...they just aren't that sticky and weak stingers...

Under a rock...in the sump or an overflow...pureed by a return pump...all much more likely...

+1
Almost all fish are strong enough to break free of a bta. Hope he's hiding if not might not have made it through the night.

Did u check ph/salinity? What else do you have in the tank?
