So.. The great Windsor Essex flood has stricken me and my home..
So much damage! 6 " water in my basement! Ughhh

I am in need of a few things to cover me for my upcoming insurance claim..
I had 2 lighting systems that were in storage that were submerged..
I need receipts ( from similar lighting) to present to insurance.. I think..
Anyway 6 bulb t5 system and 4 bulb current USA t5 system...
Anyone help me? Not sure if I have to have, but my agent said to start collecting receipts etc.
Im not sure they will believe /understand the value of these lights..
Thanks in advance!

I would think that an advertised price for the type of equipment should suffice. Can't see why they'd need the actual receipts, if the damaged goods haven't been tossed already, take photos of brand, model number etc. and comparison pricing should work - I'm hoping it does, another avenue to think about anyway. Sorry to hear of your losses. My last flood insurance claim all I did was itemize the damaged goods and was told to go replace it after they replaced the drywall, insulation, flooring etc. I hope yours turns out as simple.

I work in claims You won't need receipts as the goods are available for your insurer to see. As a matter of fact getting receipts that are not yours is a questionable procedure. Just ensure that all items are documented before disposal.

Ouch that's no fun. I guess we got over 5“ of rain and new records. part of my back yard and garage was flooded. My insurance went up this year because of all the flooding in Windsor and I don't even have a frigging basement. Good luck to you with insurance.

I would think that providing receipts that aren't yours would be unlawful, for you and the provider. I doubt if anyone would be willing to go down that road. I think providing the damaged goods and a price would suffice.

Just an update.. All set. Adjuster reviewed everything.. No need for receipts!

For the record I wasn't trying to be underhanded, or sneaky.. I just wanted to be covered for the crazy amount of damages.
I wanted receipts to show the adjuster if need be.. Cause believe it or not, not everyone understands that a flourescent light fixture is worth $500.

hey Bfofre, I think most of us got the message that you were concerned that the adjuster wouldn't understand, I did, glad it went well, I figured it would. My claim was easy peasy, no issues what so ever, which is nice because you're already stressed about the damage and replacement of damaged goods. You can breathe a sigh of relief once it's all repaired.

The renovation!
I did the majority of the work myself, hired out the tiling! I hate tiling!

All in all the experience replacing our stuff was pretty easy with the insurance company. I've since updated my policy to include damages, not just contents!
