For me it would depend on what I was going to keep in tank, and tank size. The omega is only rated for 150 gallons, curve rated for 200+

Ok, tanks is 60x18x24 some call a 100 and some say its 112 with a 36x15x 16 sump. I figure with the rock in tank and add sump I am back to roughly the 100 gal mark. Tanks is mixed SPS, LPS and fish Scopus Tang, Naso Tang, Copper Band, Yellow Head Goby, Band Pipe fish, Cleaner Wrasse, 2 Perc's , and newest addition Moorish Idol. Inverts are 1 Cleaner Shrimp, 2 Peppermint Shrimp, Green Serpent Star, and a Tiger Cucumber, some Hermits and Various Snails. Right now I am running a Eshopps PSK-150 that has the Sicce pump and works vary well but the fish are starting to grow and I believe I will need a larger skimmer. I could pull out my Aerofoamer 624 and that take care of things but I want the Skimmer in sump and to be efficient in regards to power usage and I want a drain and neck cleaner so I don't have to clean cup every day like I am now.
That's it in a nut shell.

All the best.

IMO that's a lot , of large fish for a 110g, and I wish you the best of luck with the idol, I did tons of research and decided not to get one with the success rate being so low. Hopefully yours is the exception :)

But per your skimmer question, quality is subject to the user, I've had coralife skimmers that work better then some of the fancier brand name skimmer like ATI. ( yes I've had both )
What are the price differences?
Bigger is always better too if you have a higher bio load

tYa that's the kicker for Omega 150 with neck cleaner is 671.19 Tx in and without the cleaner I looking at 451.98 Tx in. The BM 9 with cleaner would 503.96 Tx, in and with out 384.19 So yes that's quite the difference I am know leaning towards the BM-9 with cleaner from what I have read and seen most seem to be quite happy with them and the only complaint I have heard is the BM-9 is a little loud( motor hum ) and I would think there would be because its a large pump.
OK lets put it this way has anyone heard of any big problems with the BM-9 pump wise or body wise? I know the Omega 150 had problems with pump impeller shafts I think that has been fixed though.

Vertex all the way BUT I'd look for a Vertex in 250 or 280, Those older Vertex skimmers were really good, I had them all, the 80,100,180,280, Well almost all. I bought a brand new Vertex Omega 130 at Xmas and it turned out to be Crap. I should of returned it but didn't, Jerry has it now I believe.
