Tongue coral me thinks..

hmmm not too sure, it is an encrusting coral almost like a monti, no visual ridge like tounge coral either. The colony looks exactly like this just a lot larger, encrusted on rock. 


can tounge corals encrust? as its tenticles/sweepers look similar.

From what I can tell they are always out. If you zoom the photo you can see little mouths, many mouths lol

Pavona coral?

I believe this was it when it was first fragged (October). You can see the new growth to the right side of original photo posted, the left side you can see the original frag piece almost.

Googling pavona coral it seems to be more of a plating coral. This when fragged off colony, the colony instead of wanting to go plate out just encrusts back over edge, maybe if left for more time it would plate?

When I first bought the piece it looked like a liverock that someone spilt paint the same green as kryptonite torch on it lol. So I took the risk and bought it, and here we are. I brought it to Toronto frags and no one could ID. But a few pieces were sold, I wish I knew who had one as I would love to hear how there piece is doing.

For the most part yes , the little tentacles are a bit darker

I don't think it is a lithophyllon species....
But would like a better pic of tentacles and the corallites. Also, i read that the tentacles on litho are retracted when lights on but come out after dark. Also, lithophyllon is quite rare to see in the hobby....

I'll put a piece 1/2" below water line, and use a tripod this time  so I can get a real tight shot tonight.

Hey Jerry, since i grabbed a piece of this mystery coral i started looking around on the Google too.  i think it may be a Toxic Spill Psammocora?
