Took a trip to London today on a whim and made the rounds. Ended up coming home with this:

Sea-Apple-Jan-24-2015-1_zpsaca1b26a.jpg

After a bit of acclimating it is now in the tank. It puffed up right away and is now getting used to the flow of the tank. Can't wait to see the tentacles out feeding :)
Thanks Sealife Central. We had fun today. :)

I, also have heard that but also that they use that as a last resort. As long as they are cared for properly and fed correctly I'm hoping it will do well. The tentacles came out soon after putting it in the tank and it began feeding so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Also, I have never shied away from difficult to care for creatures as my journey with seahorses will attest. :) Only time will tell. If it does kill off everything then I have a good excuse to change the tank over to H. Abdominalis so I have a loose backup plan. Hoping it will survive well though.

Had a couple for years a long time ago...they never nuked the tank...eventually shrank away but that was in the bad old days when none of the things we have now we're available.

IMO not really the.ticking time bombs that some people would have you believe...

It is a Sea Apple. It hasn't fully extended yet but I will post a picture or video once it does. It is very interesting watching it eat. It catches the food in it's tentacles then puts each tentacle in it's mouth and sucks the food off.

I equate it as similar in risk to puffer fish. They, also, can put out a toxic slime that can kill off everything. I am excited to see how this thing does and I'm hoping it will be happy in my tank.
