Since i read a thread on the largest privately owned reef tank...yes it was large but the quality was lacking, it made me think of what is probably the nicest public large reef tank and that is long island aquariums 20,000g reef tank.  i havent personally visited it but its on my bucket list for sure.  Joe the curator has a long history in the hobby and i have read about this tank a number of times on RC and elsewhere.

The tang police should jump all over this guy 100 tangs in that tank, that's not enough room for them ... Sarcasm by the way

That's one sweet looking aquarium ! Thanks for sharing darrylV

Such a nice looking display of fish and corals.  While watching the videos I kept thinking that this time last year I couldn't have named any of the fish on there with real confidence as I had only known my seahorses.  Now, I can name the majority.  :)  My husband and I would love to do something like this someday but at the moment we know it is just a dream.  However, I have learned never to say never.  If we won the lottery, I would build on to the house just for the aquarium and make the area a tropical paradise.  I would never have to leave for vacation as this is the type of thing we go on vacation to find.  Ahhh to dream.....

Chuck that video was amazing.  The seahorses, leafy seadragons and seadragons were so incredible.  I have been to that aquarium and was truly amazed at the variety of fish they have in their tanks.  Disney also has some amazing tanks set up.
