I have a 60x18x26” 120 gallon tank that currently has 2 Chinese black box 165w lights on it

I’m starting a fish room in my basement for my hospital tank and a frag tank

I want to transfer the 2 current lights to my basement and get a new set of lights for the display tank

I’ve been looking at the twentysix’s and fiftytwo’s along with the kessil lights

I just don’t know how many of each I would need depending on which direction I went

Or should I be going back to t5’s

Not in any rush here but wanted some feedback

My tank currently has a mix of sps,lps and other soft corals

Open to suggestions

Thanks

Homam

I guess it depends on the tank. I would suggest 3 52's for that length of tank. Although if you have a center brace, that would affect the placement of the lights. If you have a center brace, your best option would be 4 52's. You could get away with 4 of the 26's, but that would leave really low to non existent par at the bottom though. Then again, if you have been running 2 black boxes on that length of tank, your tank may be used to the lower par in areas.

4 52’s wow

That’s a lot of money tied up in lights

What about going back to t5’s?

I understand I’ll need to buy bulbs and the cost to run may be more, but we’re talking approximately an initial 3000.00 savings which will pay several years worth of bulbs and power
